The old saying that you can never judge a book by it is cover is both accurate and helpful, most of the time. The adage usually holds true when meeting people but is definitely the case when meeting a brand. 

Appearances are everything. We are hard-wired to judge covers. When we encounter a product, our brain registers meaningful differences between one package and another, therefore, package design can be one of the most strategic ways to drive a brand forward.

Often a product's packaging is the first time a consumer interacts with a brand. It is a crucial moment. Good package design is persuasive and transfers a lot of information about a brand quickly.
